At Stone Soup Group, not only do we answer health and insurance related questions, but we also distribute relevant information regarding health care issues and laws so families can participate and make informed decisions.
This program assists with:
- Finding local providers
- Understanding specific diagnoses
- Understanding insurance options – including Medicaid eligibility and applications
- Staying current with reliable health care information -including the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
- Accessing and paying for health services and systems in Alaska
Stone Soup Group works to facilitate productive, healthy relationships between families and professionals. We promote family-centered care while working with health care providers, social workers, government entities and other community organizations. We are actively involved in specialty screening clinics throughout the state to help families understand diagnosis and figure out the next step.
Stone Soup Group is proud to be Alaska’s designated Family-to-Family (F2F) Health Information Center. As Alaska’s F2F, we are an organization that is staffed primarily by parents or family members of children with special needs so we understand the systems and processes from a unique first-hand perspective. Because of this we speak the language of families and are able to assist them as they navigate through the often overwhelming maze of programs and services.
This resource is available to Alaskans statewide and assistance can be given over the phone, by email or in person. Call or email with questions (907) 561-3701. Sign up to receive updates on policies, classes, events and special needs issues that affect our community
